The sound of high concordant guitars alongside ‘louder than necessary’ drums is not a far cry from the wistfully rhythmic chant of Bombay Bicycle Club, but combine this sound with the Edward Sharpe boy/girl harmonised vocals to find the essence of Hero and Leander. The subtle progressive quality conjoining with a melancholic ‘whistle at the past’ is almost reminiscent of the seaside pop genre that has become increasingly popular, but Hero and Leander present it in a way that doesn’t make you want to vomit on your boat shoes and never sit on a pier again. It is the natural pop vibe that will send this band soaring to the top, the feel is so organic I would be surprised if Wholefoods weren’t stacking the Collider EP by Christmas.
