Alice Gold; Wondrous Place

Alice Gold has remastered Billy Fury’s ‘Wondrous Place’ for the UK’s best-selling lager for over three decades new advertising campaign and it seems she was the perfect choice to do justice for the classic track.

The advert follows one man’s journey to find the ultimate refreshment in a pint of Carling and YouTube users have already praised Alice’s version as “excellent, astronomical, taunting and illuminating”.

After widespread demand from fans on YouTube and Facebook the full-length single version was made available on iTunes.

Alice Gold says;

I’m delighted to be working with a great British brand like Carling, and have loved the process of taking such a classic track and putting my own spin on it.”

Mike Read, Brand Director for Carling commented;

As soon as we heard Alice’s uniquely modern take on the track, we knew we’d found the right soundtrack for the new Carling advert.

The track has previously been covered by a variety of artists from Alex Turner to Jason Donovan, but Guardian ‘one to watch’ Alice Gold’s version stands-out amongst the rest.

You may not recognise the title, but you certainly will recognise the song within just a few beats. Modernising the hit and raising the tempo Alice manages to keep the catchy rhythm from the classic track, but giving it a refreshing twist.

Alice’s voice suits the style of the song well and unlike some artists, Alice Gold manages to capture the essence of every lyric she sings, therefore you can fully enjoy the track with ease.

You can’t help but tap your foot along to the tune, and whilst you’re at it why not sit back and take a sip of ice-cold Carling!
