Organisers of T in the Park are launching a major new event in Glasgow which will take place at the height of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Organisers have announced worldwide superstar Eminem as the first headliner for the new Glasgow Summer Sessions.
In his first gig on Scottish soil since his appearance at T in The Park three years ago, Eminem’s headline show at Glasgow Summer Sessions (20th of August) is expected to coincide with the release of a brand new album.
This announcement will guarantee to make Glasgow Summer Sessions a household name in its opening year.
The ten-day event, taking place at Bellahouston Park, will include up to five gigs in its first year. As many as four acts will appear on the bill for each gig on a site promoter DF Concerts have previously used to stage gigs by Coldplay and Snow Patrol.
The promoter was also responsible for the long-running T on the Fringe – a strand of the international festival in Edinburgh, but was forced to scale down following the withdrawal of sponsors Tennent’s.
Tickets for Eminem’s gig will go on sale on Wednesday (30.01.13), while details of the other bands playing are due to be revealed in the coming weeks.
