High Tropics release debut single ’15 Years’

High TropicsHigh Tropics have released their debut track ’15 Years’.

Born as a bedroom recording project late last year, High Tropics was the brainchild of frontman Josh Stewart who recorded and produced the band’s debut track.

Performing their first ever gig just this month, the Aussie indie rockers have already sparked attention online and have landed a festival slot at Big Pineapple Music Festival in Queensland.

Speaking of the meaning behind ’15 Years’, Josh explained: “There’s a phrase in the song that repeats, ‘don’t do drugs and don’t smoke that’ maybe as a reference to self-destruction, but then the chorus is all about embracing it, whatever ‘it’ might be.

“I think there’s a lot of us that feel the need to escape from feelings and thoughts – whether it’s boredom, guilt, restlessness – we all have something we’re running from, and we all have something we’re running to, I think in retrospect that’s probably what I’m trying to say in the chorus.”
