Interview | PH-ARM

London rockers PH-ARM are preparing to release their debut album ‘152’.

The band recently revealed the first track from the release, ‘Faster’, which has already racked up over 10,000 views on YouTube.

PH-ARM recorded their album late last year at London’s Metropolis Studios, famed for hosting artists including Muse, Amy Winehouse and Led Zeppelin.

With the ten track release due out later this year, we caught up with the band to find out more about the album, their musical influences and their plans to hit the road on tour.

For those who haven’t discovered PH-ARM, how would you describe your music?

We can’t really describe the kind of music we make. We all come from different backgrounds and we are mixing our influences. To keep it simple, let’s say it’s a crossover of rock and electronic/dance music.

Which bands/artists do you guys take the most influence from?

Because we’re coming from England and Italy, our music influences are rather varied. We have music influences in common from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s like The Smiths, Pink Floyd, Motley Crue and Nirvana to current artists like Muse, The Weeknd, Arctic Monkey, Twenty One Pilots. Keeping an eye on the production part, we can say that also producers as Diplo, Skrillex, Deadmau5, Knife Party are good examples of music that inspires us.

You recently recorded your debut album at Metropolis Studios, how was this experience for you?

Metropolis is kind of a temple of music where all the best artists in the world made or are making something there…probably someone is recording the next hit of the year over there now! We recorded drums and vocals at Metropolis and obviously it has been a great experience having the chance to work with such professional sound engineers.

Did you find any additional inspiration while at the studio?

It’s hard to not have inspiration when you work in places like Metropolis with that studio’s staff. A few new ideas for the arrangement and general sound came out!

What can we expect from your debut album release?

10 songs with a solid sound to dance and friendly melodies to sing.

Are there any tracks in particular you’re looking forward to fans hearing?

We believe in every single song we are releasing, but to be fair, considering the feedback received from our gigs, ‘Ghost’ will be one of the strongest songs when we hit the road.

As we’re in festival season, which UK festival would you most like to join the line-up this year?

Our favourite festivals are Download Festival (gone already), Reading Festival and V-Festival – they always have great line up!

In terms of a live set, what three things are guaranteed at a PH-ARM show?

A good sound, good energy and to have fun.

Do you have any plans for UK dates surrounding your album release?

We are an independent band, so everything is made by ourself (music and video production, publishing, promotions, booking, management etc). The only thing we can say now we are still working on UK dates for the launch of the album. We will announce these dates in the next two months. We are playing in London at the moment, you can find them on our website.

If you could tour the UK with a fellow British band, who would it be and why?

Muse, The Prodigy, Royal Blood – we love them and we could be a good supporter. Their fans should like what we do and it could be a good night of music together!

Anything else you wish to add?

Be excellent to each other!
