Alice Gold

Alice Gold’s debut album “Seven Rainbows” was produced by the renowned Dan Carey (Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip, La Roux, Lily Allen, Kylie) and was completed in just 22 days; with no money from any record label.

Now signed to Fiction Records, Alice Gold has been passionate about music from the beginning of her life.

She once bought a one-way ticket to America, won a 1978 Winnebago in a poker game and spent the next six months travelling across the US alone.

With stories like this, we were eager to chat to Alice and find out more!

Which artist is your biggest musical influence?

Janis Joplin

What do you feel has been your greatest achievement to-date?

Writing, recording and signing a label deal for “Seven Rainbows” independently.

You draw a lot of your influences from life experience, if you had to give one piece of advice to the readers about any experience you have had – what would it be?

Expression. Share your sadness, happiness, pain and love by expressing it one way or another, whether to a private diary, a best friend, a therapist or yourself out loud. I believe expressing stuff allows us to feel, understand and deal with the truth, even as painful as it sometimes is. It kind of frees us from demons that, in my experience, make you feel lonely and twisted – when there is always love close by.

Was your stateside road trip everything you thought it was going to be?
Much more. I didn’t expect to return with life long friends!

If you were to summarise your debut album using only 5 words, and to mix it up beginning with vowels only, what would they be?
Aspirational
Epic
Emotional
Intimate
Universal

Which track do you believe best showcases yourself?
‘Cry Cry Cry’, my next single.

What can we expect in the future from Alice Gold?

I will continue to make honest and emotive music and give 100% when playing live. I very much believe life is too short, so will be having as much fun as possible and giving as much love out as is possible too!
