Amy Can Flyy

With over 25,000 fans on Facebook alone; it’s safe to say Amy Can Flyy have a strong fan base.

The 4-piece from Bournemouth have completed UK tours with Adelaide, I Say Marvin and more, selling out venues across the country.

The band has gained regular airplay on Lava TV, MTV, Scuzz and Starz TV.

Amy Can Flyy are currently on tour with That Sunday Feeling in the UK and we caught up with them to find out more…

How would you describe the band’s genre?

Chris: We always find this hard to answer, but we always come to the conclusion that it’s best described as mega-global-psycho-flippin’-pancake-stoketastic-pop-core.

Fuzz: Pop.

Are there any bands out there you would compare yourself to?

Chris: Thirty Seconds to Mars.

Ben: Radiohead.

Tom: Meshuggah.

Fuzz: The Russian State Symphony Orchestra.

You’re about to embark on a tour with That Sunday Feeling, are there any dates in particular you are looking forward to?

Ben: We absolutely love playing everywhere. Some towns (such as Newcastle) are very dedicated, however the show we can’t wait to play on the tour has got to be The Old Firestation in Bournemouth. It’s a home town show which is actually a bit nerve wracking as we’ve been away for so long but hopefully the crowd will be nice!

At a typical Amy Can Flyy gig, what could we expect from your set?

Chris: Stage moves galore!

Ben: I don’t think people can prepare for what we offer on stage. It’s best to open your mind and let the music and energy do the talking.

Fuzz: A jolly good time.

Chris: Stage moves.

Can you tell us more about your upcoming release ‘The Start’?

Tom: We feel it’s special. It’s got something for all the family. A four to the floor poppy dance track, a rock anthem, a pop-punk ditty and a tear jerking ballad.

Chris: It’s worth the wait and we are very proud of it.

Fuzz: Dinosaurs Go Rawr had better watch out.

Do you have any tracks in particular that you favour?

Ben: We all like ‘You Can’t Stop Us Now’ the most. We always knew that we should release it first.

If someone hasn’t heard of the band, which song of your own would you recommend they listen to?

Chris: ‘Dinosaurs Go Rawr’… only joking! They should check out the new EP’s final song ‘The Start’. It’s pretty epic.

Your fan base are extremely supportive, do you feel it’s important to maintain a bond with your fans?

Ben: It sounds cheesy but our fan base is what keeps us going. We’ve been so grateful for the support from our fans throughout the years.

Chris: Oh, we definitely have a bond with our fans. It’s great seeing them support us and chatting with them at shows.

Tom: We actually just shot our new music video for ‘You Can’t Stop Us Now’ and invited some of our fans down to appear in the video! It was a great day and they really made the video special!

Are there any places in the UK you’ve yet to visit on tour that you would love to?

Ben: Oh for sure. We’ve covered most of the main UK towns now, so we really want to play some more shows abroad! Germany would be great but mostly we want to head to America. A lot of our fans who listen to us are from America and keep requesting that we head over there and play some shows.

Chris: I second that. America needs to see my new stage moves!

Fuzz: U, S, of A.

What are your Summer 2012 plans?

Tom: We are going on tour with That Sunday Feeling at the end of July. That should be a hoot.

Ben: We’ll basically be gearing up for our release. Expect new music videos, merch and even a headline tour later this year.

The band have just released their music video for ‘You Can’t Stop Us Now’ and you can watch it below:
