This Century

Forming in 2007, Arizona band This Century have established a strong fan base in the UK, despite never touring here.

The pop-punk band have recently recorded their second EP and have toured America extensively with the likes of The Maine, The Ready Set, Hey Monday and more.

With their UK fans eager to ask them questions, we caught up with Sean Silverman (Guitar) to find out more about the band, UK touring plans and their upcoming release.

For those who have yet to discover the band, how would you best describe This Century?

Anthemic pop rock! I think that’s a word. Check back with me on that.

What can we expect from your next album? Will there be any surprises?

Expect the unexpected. This next album will be something very different from what we’ve done in the past. I think it’s a great summer record, lots of dancing around to be had. The whole album should feel like one big surprise.

What is your favourite thing about recording songs acoustically?

Getting to feel a completely different emotional impact from the song. I always thought that a song isn’t truly a great song unless it can translate acoustically.

Is there a song you are most proud of or a song that means the most to you and why?

Sound of Fire was really important to us. It provided the centerpiece for our first LP. I feel like it was the driving force behind finishing the record.

How does it feel to have a supportive fan base in the UK?

We feel so incredibly fortunate that we actually have fans in the UK willing to fight for us. It’s always been a long time goal of the band to go over there but now it’s feeling more realistic than ever.

Do you have any plans to tour the UK?

We’re hoping to pull together plans for later this year so we’ll keep crossing our fingers.

Is there anything in particular in the UK you would love to see or try?

I’ve always wanted to see the London Eye! I know that’s an incredibly touristy thing to do and/or see but I’d like to get a nice panoramic view one of these days.

If you were stranded on a desert island, which 3 albums/records would be your must-haves to keep you sane?

Coldplay – Parachutes, Radiohead – Kid A, Keane – Hopes and Fears

Which song of your own would you recommend our readers to check out?

Everywhere, Everything

Is there anything else you wish to add?

A huge thank you to our UK fans for sticking by us. Please make sure to check out all of the new music we have in store for 2012!
