Introducing | Egyptian Blue

Ahead of their appearances at The Great Escape Festival, we caught up with Egyptian Blue.

The unsigned four-piece have recently performed at venues including Scala and Sebright Arms while receiving support from the likes of BBC Radio 1.

With summer slots secured at festivals including Y Not and Truck Festival, it seems this summer is the start of something special for the quartet who are ready to unleash their psych indie rock  sound.

We caught up with Andy Buss from the band to find out more about their music, live sets and future plans.

Can you tell us about the formation of Egyptian Blue?

I met Leith (vocals) in school way back in the day and we just decided that it may be a cool thing to do to write some tunes, so we did without a bassist or drummer for about 7 years. This is when we met Tom (drums) and Luke (bass) at college and we just kinda all fell into place.

How would you describe your music for those who haven’t discovered the band yet?

Trashy punky psych shop pop terror jazz.

Which track would you recommend our readers kick things off with?

Our new single ‘This is My Rot‘.

How does it feel to hear your single releases on the radio?

Feels nice for sure, it’s always good to be on the airways.

In terms of a live set, what three things are guaranteed at an Egyptian Blue show?

Vicious drinking, raw energy and sweat.

With festival season fast approaching, which festival in the UK would you most like to play?

Probably End of The Road just because the line-up is too good. I’ve never been but I’ve heard it’s great.

What are your plans for the rest of 2016?

We are currently writing an EP which should be out at some point soonish, some more festivals and a lot of beers.

Anything else you wish to add?

Good luck to my buddy Hancock who is a new turned veggie biter.
