Introducing | Everywhere

In 2013, Stockholm four-piece Everywhere made their first UK appearance at the NME Awards.

Stepping on to the stage alongside Django Django and Palma Violets, the band then went on to tour Europe, release their debut EP and rack up millions of streams across YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud.

With their third EP due for release in the autumn, we caught up with Everywhere to find out more about their formation and the future.

Can you tell us more about the formation of Everywhere?

About 5 years ago, our frontman Max Berga came home after a night out and started to email his bedroom demos to a fairly large amount of music producers around the world. For the following couple of days, nothing happened until he suddenly received a phone call from the acclaimed producer Mark Needham who asked him to bring his band to LA and work on the demos he had sent. Max agreed on the spot only to realise once they had hung up that he didn’t have any band members yet. He logged on to a Swedish website called Bandfinder and started to email potential prospects and after many failed attempts he finally managed to get us together. We flew off to the states and came back as Everywhere with some brand new tracks in our bag.

How would you describe your music to those who haven’t heard it?

Most of our own ideas about our music tend to be vastly different from how other people perceive it. Saying that, most people including ourselves could probably agree that it sounds as if we have been digging around in the 80’s back catalogue. It is alternative rock about lost lovers and broken hearts with some hints of The Wombats, The Killers and The Royal Concept.

Which track should our readers check out first?

We strongly recommend that they check out our latest single ‘Shades At Night‘. It should give them a clear indication of where we are heading and where we have been.

How did it feel working with producer Mark Needham for your previous release?

It felt great and we love LA. Such an amazing place to record and Mark is such a professional guy. The Americans tend to be great in that way, they are very straight forward and easy to deal with. Mark took a hands-off approach when it came to the production part, he just let us do our thing but didn’t hesitate to speak his mind when something didn’t work. He brought us into East West Studios, which is one of the best recording facilities in the world. A spectacular experience without a doubt.

Do you have any plans for future releases this year?

We are currently finishing up our second EP single which is due to be released in March. We are planning to expand on the sound from ‘Shades At Night’ and push ourselves harder than ever before to make the results as excellent as humanly possible. The EP itself is scheduled to come out in Aug/Sep.

How are the plans for your UK tour coming along?

The tour is coming along fine! The details will be revealed soon but expect to see us performing in Brighton, London, Bristol and even up in Scotland to name a few stops.

What are you most looking forward to about touring the UK?

We are looking forward to finally meeting the people who have been emailing, Tweeting and texting us expressing their praise for our music. And also to meet the bloggers, the journalists and radio DJs who have been supporting us for years via their community stations and regional outlets.

What can we expect from a live set?

You can expect a great deal of energy and a well rehearsed and lubricated set tailored for a highly demanding British audience. If we have learned anything in the last couple of years, it’s that the Brits expect more than just another curly-haired guy in skinny jeans singing about long-lost lovers. We will try our best to deliver something beyond that.

Is there anything else you wish to add?

Not really, except how grateful we are that you would have us for an interview! Thank you so much for your poignant questions and hope our answers were satisfactory.
