Introducing | Say Yes Dog

With a packed festival season in place, we caught up with Say Yes Dog.

The Berlin-based duo have been busy recording over the past few years, returning with a taster of their debut album and a packed summer schedule.

Following appearances at The Great Escape and Primavera, we caught up with the guys to find out more about their plans for 2015.

For those who haven’t stumbled across Say Yes Dog, how would you describe your music?

Electronic Machine-Funk Synth-Pop!

Which bands/artists are you listening to at the moment?

50 Cent, James Blake, The Strokes, John Wizards.

You’ve recently completed a host of dates across Europe, are there any shows in particular that stood out for you?

We had a really good weekend at the Great Escape in Brighton, two really sweaty gigs! But also coming to Barcelona for Primavera Sound and playing in a small club where everybody sang the songs from our EP was pretty cool!

Have you found there is a difference between audiences across Europe?

Maybe, if you think about the level of alcohol and the motivation to dance at the given time of day. So if you compare the British and the Spanish audience for example, I’d say the British can start a good party way earlier than the Spanish. In Spain it has to be quite late to get the people to dance.

Are there any venues in the UK you’d love to headline?

We don’t know so many venues there, we played a couple of bars and the XOYO as a support which was really cool but we heard a lot about all the other sweet spots to play in London. So I guess we’ll just wait and see on which stage our music will take us.

As festival season approaches, which festival in the UK would you like to perform at?

Definitely Glastonbury! You hear so many weird and amazing stories about this festival…and no one of us went so far!

What do you have planned for the rest of 2015?

There are a couple of nice festivals across Europe in the Summer and after that we’re going to release our album probably around September. We can’t wait to finally put our songs out and give the people new songs to listen to. And from then on we’re gonna do a club tour, some concerts in Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain and whoever will have us!

Anything else you wish to add?

Any Synth-Pop bands around in UK who want to challenge us in a football match?! Three-on-three?!
