Introducing | The Carnabys

In 2013, The Carnabys beat more than 12,000 artists to be crowned the winners of Hard Rock Rising.

Winning the global title, the London five-piece then went onto support Bruce Springsteen at Hard Rock Calling and shared a stage with the likes of Kings Of Leon and Imagine Dragons, as well as performing sold out headline shows across London.

Now, with more than half a million hits on Vevo and YouTube, the band are preparing to release their new single ‘Peaches and Bleach’ on March 25th.

Ahead of their new release, we caught up with The Carnabys to find out more about their plans for 2016.

For those who haven’t discovered The Carnabys, how would you describe your music?

Our music is a live sounding, raw indie rock. We’ve never been able to compare ourselves to one band, but we’ve described our sound as the love child of Kings Of Leon and Arctic Monkeys.

Back in 2013 you won Hard Rock Rising, how have things progressed for you guys since winning the competition?

It’s been great, we’ve been gigging and touring constantly, around the world (Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, Chicago, Honolulu, Rome, Florence, Venice, Nice, Jesolo, Barcelona…) and it hasn’t stopped. We’ve also managed to support some great acts like Blondie, Imagine Dragons and Palma Violets.

Your new album is due out in August, what can we expect from the release?

The new tunes are a lot rawer. They get straight to the point and deliver that live energy we’ve crafted from constantly performing in front of crowds.

Do you guys have any plans for a UK tour surrounding the new album?

Yeah definitely, we’re doing a headline UK tour this March/April for the new single ‘Peaches and Bleach’ and will definitely play around the UK with the album release.

In terms of your live shows to-date, are there any particular gigs that still stand out?

We’ve had so many memorable gigs.. Headlining at KOKO was something special, so was touring with Blondie. I’ll always remember a house party we played in Brighton, there were so many people climbing on top of each other, we almost fell through the floor into the flat below.

If you could join any festival line-up this year, what would it be and why?

Love to be ICE CUBE’s backing band at Wild Life… Reading and Leeds would be cool too.

What are your plans for the rest of 2016?

Touring and sharing these new tunes! Hopefully with some surprises along the way.
