Introducing | The Wow Signal

With a summer packed full of shows underway, we caught up with The Wow Signal.

The London four-piece released their new single ‘What It Means to Me’ in July, receiving support from radio stations including BBC6 Music and BBC Radio Wales.

Ahead of their forthcoming show at The Finsbury, we caught up with Loz Fancourt from the band to find out about more The Wow Signal’s formation, their live sets and plans for 2015.

Can you tell us about how you guys got together?

We are all friends from Wales living in London and we decided to basically merge our bands together to make The Wow Signal A super group basically…maybe minus the super haha!

Which bands/artists do you take influence from?

The Clash, Biffy Clyro and The Strokes, but I find current music can be just as influential. One of my favorite bands around at the moment are a three-piece from Brighton called Tigercub, they really pack a punch! Go to see them live if you get a chance.

How would you describe a live set from The Wow Signal?

Short and sweet. Fast, energetic and sweaty. We don’t spit, or bite so come closer…

What are your plans for summer?

We have a show this Friday (28th) at The Finsbury in North London and that’s it until the we play at The Hawley Arms on September 27th. We recently recorded our next double A-side single, which is due for release in early October.

Do you have any band aims for 2015?

New single release in October, followed by a load of shows across the UK. Back in the studio between now and then to record another batch of songs ready for another release in December. It’s
really important for us as a band to keep as busy as possible, all of the time. There’s just no point otherwise, right? Right.

Anything else you wish to add?

Come and see us live, sweat and buy a T-shirt. Ta.
