Forever Is For Now

Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah the alternative pop-punk band claim they ‘live through music’. After only being together for less than a year and only starting to write their own music about six months ago, they have already accumulated nearly 700 fans on Facebook in that short time.

The band draw influences from the likes of All Time Low, Blink 182 and Escape The Fate and have most recently supported Framing Hanley at the Avalon Theatre.

We caught up with the band to find out more.

Where did the band get the name ‘Forever is For Now’ from?
While being in relationships throughout your life, you often hear a phrase along the lines of “I’ll love you forever.” This is something that usually turns out to be a false promise. As we were coming up with a name, we wanted to make an honest statement that most people wouldn’t make in a real-time conversation. “I’ll love you for now.” It’s something a lot of people can relate to, and that’s what we were shooting for when it came down to a name choice.

What do you feel has been your greatest achievement as a band to date?
We recently had the opportunity to open for Framing Hanley in mid-December. The fans were incredible, and it was the most amazing show we have played to date. They made us feel as if we were some sort of celebrities rather than just the every-day high school students in the lives we live. It was a huge accomplishment for us to know that our music honestly can affect the lives of others as well as our own, and we definitely hope to keep that going!

Do you feel social networking sites have helped the band’s success?
Social networking really is the key to most success these days. It has helped us so much, and will continue to do so. We are learning to take advantage of sites such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Myspace, and more in order to connect with others. It’s just such an easy way to reach out to fans and keep them updated on what is going on in our lives; as well as to just talk to them and get to know them on a personal level; more as friends!

What would you say differentiates yourself from the rest of the alternative pop-punk band’s out there?
Most Pop-Punk bands these days focus solely on a fun, upbeat tempo with a catchy melody. Yes, of course that is important for this genre, and we try to incorporate that into our music to the best of our ability as well, but when we write, we try to dig deeper than that. We put a lot of our time into lyrics and writing songs that teenagers can relate to as well as pump in their cars while they drive. We also realize that our fans are the most amazing people in the world, and spend every moment we can getting to know them individually, whether it be through facebook chat, @replies on twitter, or at a show. We just want them to know how appreciated they really are!

With writing your music, where do you feel you gain most inspiration from?
Relationships. A lot of people don’t like when bands write about girls because they don’t find it to be original content. But the way I (Nick) see it, you should write music that has meaning to you personally. Don’t focus on what you think the public will, and will not approve of, because a song won’t be successful unless you put your whole heart into every aspect of writing, and performing the piece.

I have had a lot of experiences, and that’s what I write from. I don’t sit there and try to just be clever with my words. Rather, I sit down, and literally write exactly how I’m feeling about a situation. From there, everything else seems to just fall into place.

It seems like this is also how I write songs people can relate to. People tell me all the time that a certain song is the “story of their life,” and that really makes me feel like I’ve done something well, and makes me want to keep on going with what I do.

If there were no limits, which band would you love to go on tour with?
We all come from different music backgrounds, so a question like this is definitely a difficult one!

Nick would absolutely love to tour with All Time Low. He loves how talented they are, yet, they never let work get too serious. They are a huge inspiration to him and his music. It would also be amazing to tour with bands such as Mayday Parade, Fall Out Boy, and Set It Off.

Bryan would love to tour with Escape the Fate. They are the ones that got him into music and convinced him to pick up a guitar for the first time. They are his number one inspiration. There is more he would like to say, but vulgarity may not be a good thing on this site! Haha. He would also kill to tour with Neon Trees and There For Tomorrow.

Kenny (Pinata)’s first choice would be nothing short of the incredible punk trio of Blink-182. He loves how lively they are and thinks it would be a blast to tour along their side. He would also love to be on a tour with Boys Like Girls, Rise Against, and The All-American Rejects.

What can we expect from Forever is For Now in 2011?
FiFN has some big plans for the year of 2011! None of them are quite set in stone, but expect some great things! With the loss of our bass player, we got a bit set back, but things will start to pick back up very very soon! We can’t say too much, but we do have a possible debut album we hope to start in late February/early March in which, if all goes as planned, would release mid May or so. Of course, plans may change, so don’t hold us to anything, but expect a lot of shows, and some new ear candy within this year!

Do the band have any plans to come to the UK?
Being an independent band, we honestly don’t think we would be able to make it over to the UK anytime soon. As of right now we are just trying to establish where we stand here in the states, but hopefully in the future we could work something out!

What is the best way to contact the band?
We have multiple websites, but the best way is probably through our personal twitters. We check our Facebook page constantly, as well as our twitter, but personal tweets go directly to our cell phones and we can reply pretty much instantly. If it is business related, please email us at foreverisfornow@gmail.com (please keep this email address for business related messages only.)
