Wheels

Meet Wheels; a band of fresh-faced London boys who emulate Britpop cool and create credible guitar pop, yet as the band promote ‘think Blur, not Busted!’

The band already have achieved the full rock look and with an expanding fan base and memorable live sets, this is only the beginning.

We caught up with lead singer George Runciman to find out more about the band.

How did the band come up with the name ‘Wheels’?
We were stuck for months trying to come with a name, it’s always the hardest thing to do. George came up with the name I think. Came from John Lennon’s “Watching the Wheels” loosely, the songs lyrics really speaking to all of us at the time. Plus we liked it being short.

How did the band’s initially get together?
Me and George had just left a band we were playing in together and I had been in a band before with Stirling. We found Yacob on a space age website called gumtree!

Why did you decide to release track ‘Feel About Me’ as the debut single?
Cuz it’s the one we wanted to release.

What do they feel differentiates themselves from the rest?
We’re not too busy trying to sound innovative and we’re proud to express our influences in our music. Think it helps us come across as genuine.

Who in the band is responsible for writing the bands lyrics?
Me

The band claim to ‘be the leaders of the resurgence of British guitar music’, how do you plan to achieve this?
By writing shit hot guitar music

What can we expect from ‘Wheels’ in 2011?
Some singles, hopefully an album and some touring.

Do the band have any 2011 artist predictions of their own?
Ray Dar Vees are looking great and Innercity Pirates
