Letters From a Stranger are a sexy and fresh unsigned metalcore fivesome from Kingston-Upon-Hull. They only formed in 2011 believe it or not! Tearing up local shows and supporting bands such as Jody Has a Hitlist and With One Last Breath.
These guys have blessed us with a 5 track EP titled ‘Apologies Mean Nothing‘ which can be purchased for only £2 from lettersfromastranger.bigcartel.com. The band is currently managing themselves, booking in their own shows and organizing a tour for 2012. Clever lads!
After a high interest recently, as LFAS have climbed the UK metalcore ladder, we decided to dig deep and find out what makes them tick!
LFAS recently shot an amateur music video for the single ‘Cowards Preying on the Weak’. How did that go?
Jamie: We’ve literally only just shot this! Cowards Preying on the Weak is our best and most popular track. After a few cock-ups and lighting problems we got it done. We even had to use our Guitarist’s car headlights for lighting when it got dark! Regardless of how it turns out, at least we have a music video!
To date, which show would you say was your best yet and why?
LFAS: Best show would have to be our Halloween gig in Bridlington! It was amazing and the crowd really got involved with us. We opened the show which is never easy, as people wait around the bar as the venue fills up, but the crowd were brilliant. We all played in costume as it was Halloween- Vocals as a Gorilla, Bassist as a Zombie and Guitarist as a female Pirate haha! Overall a brilliant night, we cant wait to play there again!
Do you guys have any other hobbies besides, obviously, making music?
LFAS: Drinking. I could probably end it there. We love to party with our friends and get messed up! We always make time to head down to shows and see our favourite bands, also checking out local bands at our surrounding venues. Generally just supporting the scene! SHOUT OUTS to our friends Set in stone, The Colour Line, The Stanford Prison Experiment and Gratitude.
Whats happening for LFAS in 2012?
Jamie: This year we are gigging everything and anything. From shows to parties, pubs and clubs you name it! We want the UK to hear what we’ve got. With a high number of Facebook followers and fantastic reviews, we want to step it up and keep going. We’re planning our first tour ever this year in February to hit Leeds, Guildford and a few other places. In the summer of 2012, we plan to tour with ‘The Stanford Prison Experiment‘. Dates are still to be announced on that, we’re still booking in shows. For booking enquiries please contact us on lettersfromastranger@live.co.uk .
