Tru Fam

Hailing from New Jersey and having toured at Hot Topic stores as well as School of Rock East, Crocodile Rock Cafe, New York Times Square Arts Center, and Six Flags Great Adventures to name a few, Tru Fam are ready to get their music heard!

After performing in over 50 festivals, colleges and even at Sweet Sixteens, the pop group are focussed on their new EP ‘Bowties & Applause’ and know exactly where they want to be.

Tru Fam are taking part in this summers Warped tour and we caught up with the band to allow them to introduce themselves to you!

Love may be all you need, but what do you want the most in the world, right now?

Justi – Yes I need love, but right now I want all our fans love to grow and love Trufam. I want them to love our style, our music and our whole persona!
Sha- I agree with Justi 100 percent. We just wanna be heard!

What has been your favorite place to perform in so far and why?

Justi- My favorite performance was when we performed at a surprise Sweet Sixteen. She was our biggest fan and we drove about 4 hours to go perform and we rocked it. It was great to see we made her and her friends day!
Sha- My favourite place to perform was at School of Rock in Hackensack.That Night was insane and the crowd was rocking, they were really into us!

Where do you see Tru Fam performing next year?

Justi- Well since we are doing this years 2011 Vans Warped Tour, I can see us performing at the MTV Awards and hopefully touring overseas!
Sha- We wanna just travel throughout the U.S and perform all over, not really one specific place! The Vans Warped Tour is very exciting, we can’t wait!

Your sound is fairly unique, but who do you consider your biggest competition in the market?

Justi- Um, great question! I think our biggest competition in the market would have to be B.O.B.
Sha- Our greatest competition would have to be ourselves haha! No one is quite like us…

Who do you idolize in the music industry, who do you aspire to be like in terms of success?
Justi- I would say Kanye West he has a great career. I think Kid Cudi has done some amazing things, as well as B.O.B – what a great album he made last year!
Sha- Definitely Kanye West, Cee lo Green and Bruno Mars. All of these aren’t your typical artists ‘Pop’ artists, but they are selling records and are influential in today’s ‘Pop Culture’.

Why should we listen to you and not other pop?

Justi- You should listen to us because our music is really different. We write our own material so you can really feel the words that are coming out of our mouth. We are passionate and when we perform the records we put on a show and bring lots of energy to the stage. We give 100% because we appreciate every fan that we get to like Trufam!
Sha-Our music is a 100 percent real. Our words are real and most people should be able to relate to them .It’s fun and exciting music, we are full of energy and it shows in our music too.

What made you choose your genre of music, who inspires you?

Justi- We were always into commercial music, that was my thing! I loved P.Diddy and Mase with all the flashy suits, but then i loved NYSNC as well! Some people try to be commercial, but that’s just the type of music we listened to! Thanks for the interview and thanks to the fans !!!!!
