Live Review | Bring Me The Horizon | Edinburgh Corn Exchange

Bring Me The Horizon headlined Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange celebrating the release of their new album ‘That’s The Spirit’.

With an impressive lighting backdrop, blasts of smoke from the stage and confetti for the final song, the set had all the makings of an arena show in the 3000 capacity venue.

The night showcased a range of the band’s music catalogue from 2008’s ‘Chelsea Smile’ alongside classics including ‘Go To Hell For Heaven’s Sake’ and ‘Anti-Vist’ through to new songs from this year’s album release ‘That’s The Spirit’, with newer highlights including ‘Throne’ and ‘True Friends’.

At first, frontman Oli Sykes seemed more comfortable with the older material, with the backing track in new songs slightly overpowering his vocals at the start. However, half way into the set that all seemed to change as he powerfully belted out the old classics and settled into the new material.

For the sold out crowd, it didn’t seem to matter which Bring Me The Horizon ‘era’ the music was from, as fans eagerly joined in with every track with pints were thrown in the air and crowd surfers making their way to the stage.

Despite forming more than ten years ago, their enthusiasm for the music shines through with new and old songs transitioning together with ease. It’s clear Bring Me The Horizon know how to work a sold out show.

With high energy throughout, plenty of singalong moments and mosh pits galore, surely it won’t be long until the Sheffield five-piece are selling out a full UK arena tour. Next stop? Surely Glasgow’s Hydro.
