Live Review | Casey Lowry | Sneaky Pete’s

Casey Lowry made his way to Edinburgh during his biggest tour to-date for an intimate show at Sneaky Pete’s.

Bringing his indie pop to the capital, the quiet night saw the band unannouncedly step onto the stage, quickly tuning up, and launching straight into ‘Up and Down’ commanding the venue into silence as the lighthearted bubblegum-esque lyrics led the way.

From this moment on, it was all about the music. They breezed their way through a set that flowed with ease as Casey Lowry and his band charmed Sneaky Pete’s.

Their tropical pop is primed to make you groove, with intertwined rock elements offering toe-tapping moments, with infectious onstage attitudes the perfect match to the pick-me-up sunkissed singles including streamed tracks ‘Confused’ and ‘Trampoline’.

Streaming only a trio of singles online before touring solo is a bold move, but for Casey it provided the perfect opportunity to showcase his signature sound.

Set highlight came in the form of new single ‘Blank Face’ which managed to stand its own, with instantly catchy lyrics soundtracked to glistening indie pop.

As there was a smaller crowd, some of the upbeat singles lacked a live spark and deserved a better reception, with an atmosphere guaranteed to only add to Casey’s performance. Despite not having much interaction, his personality shone through the uplifting singles with his beaming smile and infectious giggle adding to the charm.

One thing is for certain, Casey Lowry’s talent deserves to be heard.

Sneaky Pete’s has built a reputation for becoming the home to artists before they make it and it seems this another artist to add to their ever-growing list.
