Live Review | Eliza and The Bear | Electric Circus

Eliza and The Bear returned to Edinburgh’s Electric Circus for a sold out headline show.

Back in March 2014, the band performed at the same venue as part of the Communion New Faces tour.

Two years later standing on the same stage, it was clear to see how the band has progressed ahead of the release of their debut album.

There was no messing around from the London five-piece as their slick set moved seamlessly between old favourites and newer tracks, maintaining the audience’s attention and keeping the energetic momentum up all night with a solid set of songs.

Chatting to the crowd while introducing each track, they made it a personable show and it was clear to see from their beaming smiles that they’re passionate about their music and proud to see fans singing the lyrics back.

From opener ‘Lion’s Heart’ through to indie rock hit ‘Talk’ and fan favourite ‘Friends’, each song managed to stand alone with a strong vocal blend from James Kellegher and Martin Dukelow, keeping the crowd dancing all night.

As they returned for their final song, ‘It Gets Cold’, one fan was readily equipped with a giant fancy dress bear head and was invited on stage to dance with the band.

It was easily apparent why Eliza and The Bear have gained a strong live reputation – after all, it’s not often a band can sell out a venue without an album release behind them.

Judging by their set, this is just the beginning of a special year for the band and you’ll no doubt be hearing a lot more of Eliza and The Bear in the very near future.
