Live Review | EofE | The Forum

Having only ever seen EofE as a support band before now, watching them headline their Unleashed Tour is a great opportunity to really see what the group are made of.

The Forum in Tunbridge Wells, Kent has been voted NME’s Best Small Venue and the boys certainly help it to live up to that accolade.

Although the venue is less than half full, the band perform with so much energy and enthusiasm from the offset that they could easily still be standing in front of thousands, much like at their recent support slots on the McBusted and The Vamps’ tours.

Writing all original material themselves, their pop-rock style feels heartfelt; boasting great hooks and instantly catchy melodies. From the upbeat ‘Lust’ to the emotional ‘Pieces of Me’, they are incredibly talented young guys with bags of potential. Tom Harris in particular stands out as a fantastic frontman. It’s hard to take your eyes off him as he never stops moving!

Having not released an album yet, EofE show off their ability with a range of covers too. Taking on Fall Out Boy, ‘Buck Rogers’ by Feeder and a ‘Billy Jean / Smells Like Teen Spirit’ mash-up is a brave move that pays off, proving that they also have a heavier side. Also covering the very different Adele allows Tom’s voice to take centre stage and showcases his impressive range.

At the beginning of the night the crowd seemed quite shy but by the end of their set everyone is dancing and singing along. In such a small venue with nowhere to hide, their hard work and passion for the music they play shines through. To create such a great atmosphere and have such stage presence somewhere so intimate is seriously impressive. Big or small, it feels as though they put every ounce of their energy into creating a show for any audience they play to. It’s not hard to picture them filling up theatres or maybe even arenas by themselves in the future.

EofE certainly proved that they’ve got the talent, diversity and passion to go far and they certainly deserve to do well. Let’s hope this tour makes people sit up and listen.
