Burrowed in the depths of Leeds, we arrived to a packed out Brudenell Social Club to watch Irish duo Hudson Taylor.
As the lights dim, the siblings – Alfie and Harry – took to the stage and were greeted with loud cheers from the Leeds crowd.
The crowd were certainly up for a good time with many singing a long and having a good old dance!
Their track ‘Weapons’ captured the audience’s attention with its catchy chorus and dynamic sound, created by the whole band.
With their eagerly anticipated debut album set for release on March 30th, the duo provided us with a taster of what to expect, playing new tracks such as ‘The Night Before The Morning After’, ‘Don’t Tell Me’ and ‘Wildfires’.
Watching on, it was hard to not let yourself be mesmerised by the lyrics, the music, the atmosphere and the chemistry that the brothers share on stage. In terms of live performances, they have it all.
They even let us in for a little treat by sharing with us that they were filming part of the music video for their next single on the night. The crowd went crazy, with Alfie adding some humour by asking us to ‘stop acting’ once the track had finished.
It was hard to believe that they were playing a small venue tucked away in a housing estate in the middle of Leeds. It almost felt as if I was attending a secret set, watching a well-established duo who should be playing much larger venues.
Hudson Taylor are real musicians with no gimmicks. They also treated us to a completely acoustic track, using no microphones – just their voices and their guitars, truly incredible. The room fell silent with the audience captured with their enchanting performance, hooked.
The duo thanked the crowd and couldn’t look happier on stage after their phenomenal performance.
If you haven’t witnessed Hudson Taylor live, make sure it’s on your to-do list! The live atmosphere they create is magical and truly captivating – certainly not ones to miss! We can only predict that the venues they play going forward are going to get much bigger…
If you can’t wait until then to listen to them, you can pre-order their debut album via iTunes and it is released on March 30th.
