Live Review | James Veck-Gilodi | Brudenell Social Club

Following on from his success as frontman of Deaf Havana, James Veck-Gilodi headed out on tour with fellow band mate Matt Britton to play some acoustic shows.

The venues on this tour are relatively small, compared to the likes of opening main stage at Reading and Leeds which James had a taste of with Deaf Havana.

Arriving to the venue we were welcomed by the delicate, warm and inviting tones of singer/songwriter Sam Griffiths. It didn’t matter if you were standing right at the front, sat down or at the bar, you couldn’t help but be memorized by Sam’s voice.

Up next were Meadowlark who graced the stage with great presence and delighted the audience with their enchanting sounds. Their upbeat and feel good melodies captured the audience and particular favourites of ours were ‘Family Tree’ and ‘I’ve got you’. Definitely ones to watch!

The room filled, eagerly awaiting for James and Max to hit the stage.

James entered the stage as any musician should, with a pint of guiness in hand! The crowd provided a warm welcome of cheers and a particular group of fans seemed to provide the comedy for the evening by shouting ‘James!’ and telling them how much they loved him throughout the whole set and after…

Warming up the crowd, they played ‘Holes’ which appeared to go down well with many singing it back word for word to James’ delight.

James thanked the audience for coming and seemed a little overwhelmed with the reception they received – a deserved reception at that.

As the musical and lyrical talent oozed from the stage, the audience were hooked track by track.

They also played tracks ‘Coffee’ and ‘Wasted’ which they promised they would release at some point in the near future.

The show was a breath of fresh air from start to finish, introducing us to new music, new talent and enjoying a little sing-a-long.

It seems there are no limits to James and Max’s musical talents and we’re excited to see what comes of this duo.
