Live Review | Matt Cardle | Edinburgh Queen’s Hall

matt cardleThere is something special captured in the moment when an act looks out to the crowd with a beaming smile on their face.

The look of happiness, pride and achievement all in one glint of their eye is enough to convince you the stage is where they belong and that they couldn’t be happier standing in that very spot in front of the crowd on the night.

Matt Cardle shot to fame in 2010 thanks to the X Factor and has since sold over 2 million records and performed sold out tours across the UK.

Now, the singer is back on the touring circuit and looked right at home standing on the Scottish stage dressed in traditional kilt attire for his Porcelain UK tour date at the Queen’s Hall.

Despite the venue lacking full capacity, this made no difference to Matt’s performance. In fact, the intimate venue provided a cosy gig atmosphere for Matt and his proficient band to take full control of the room delivering a non-stop energetic set.

Of course it was his vocal talent that won him X Factor and he showcases this with absolute ease, but as soon as a guitar is in his hands you can see that is where his passion lies.

He proved he doesn’t need the X Factor brand to attach on to, his powerful vocals, catchy songs and happy-go-lucky attitude are enough to convince you he loves what he’s doing and you should love it too.

Highlights in the set included Hit My Heart, This Trouble Is Ours and Not Over You.

Faithless was one of our personal highlights showcasing the true strength and talent of Matt’s raw vocals accompanied only by an acoustic guitar he captivated the entire room, who were left hanging on every word sung.

Matt Cardle proved exactly why he is one of the few X Factor acts who have managed to sustain a music career since leaving the show.

And with a voice like his, an infectious attitude and a love for what he does – there should be no end in sight for Cardle’s career.
