Live Review | McBusted | Glasgow SSE Hydro

mcbustedWhen the announcement was made that McFly and Busted were to team up for a supergroup UK tour, it was a blast from the past for those who grew up listening to their music.

Following their formation at McFly’s 10 year anniversary gigs at the Royal Albert Hall, the six-piece band announced a headline UK tour which due to popularity extended from an original 11 dates to a whopping 34 gigs.

And with their energy, enthusiasm and beaming smiles, it’s easy to see how they’ve captivated fans hearts once again.

The whole show was like stepping into the mind of the McBusted boys with a DeLorean, a UFO, giant inflatable boobs, explosions and rocket launchers turning the arena space into the guy’s playground for the night.

Some of them were even dressed like they would have back in the day with ripped jeans, college style t-shirts and bright trainers and with the same levels of energy as their teenage selves, you felt like you’d stepped back in time for the night for a nostalgic hit.

The band air-jumped their way through the set playing a mix of songs from both their hit lists using the whole arena to their advantage, unlike many other musicians, with an extended runway on the front stage and a UFO stage landing in the back of the arena.

There were a few cheesy elements to the night with video breaks and synchronised dance moves, but with the smiles on the guy’s faces as they looked out to the packed arena – it was almost easy to forgive.

Overall, the supergroup knew exactly how to put on a show. From the moment the lights went down to when they exited the stage, it was action-packed pop celebration raising a glass to both band’s careers to-date.
