Live Review| One Night Only | Sneaky Pete’s

I’ll be honest the last time I had heard from One Night Only was the release of ‘Just for Tonight’, and after a quick Google I realise this came out in 2008! So as I made my way along to Sneaky Petes in Edinburgh I was pretty excited to find out what this four-piece have been up to for the past six years.

The tiny venue meant support band The Luka State made their way through the gathering crowd to get to the stage. The five-piece from Cheshire brought their indie rock sound to Sneaky Petes with enthusiasm and passion. Highlights of the set were songs ‘Rain’ and ’30 Minute Break’.

The Luka State will release new single ‘The Believer’ on 16th March, the song is taken from an upcoming seven track mini album due out later in the year.

After a stage change involving equipment being squeezed past the now busy room and a quick shot of tequila at the bar, One Night Only kicked off the show with ‘Get Around To It’.

The whole set was a mix of old and new and met by adoring fans – of the music and frontman George Craig’s smile! A relaxed and upbeat atmosphere filled the venue as One Night Only filled it with the sound of ‘It’s About Time’ and ‘Plasticine’.

George announced that their next single would be ‘Luck That Keeps You Guessing’ due for release in March. Another announcement of an upcoming album release was met with shouts of “about time!” proving the One Night Only boys have been missed and hopefully 2015 will be their year to come back and shine.

Coming to the end of the set, the band members dispersed from the stage leaving lead vocalist George Craig behind, we were treated to acoustic versions of ‘Long Time Coming’ and ‘You and Me’. A real sing-along moment.

Of course the final song of the evening was ‘Just for Tonight’ and it was clear this is what the crowd was waiting for. A wave of movement erupted in the room as fans remembered the upbeat sound the band are well-loved for!

The catchy songs and contagious on-stage attitudes made this an enjoyable gig and I’m interested to see what we will hear from them next.
