Live Review | The Sherlocks | Electric Circus

The Sherlocks returned to Edinburgh for a sold out show at Electric Circus.

The Sheffield four-piece may have been together since 2014, but in the last 12 months the hype surrounding the band has grown as their gigging schedule included a support slot with The Libertines, festival appearances at Leeds and Reading and a sold out UK tour in September.

One thing on the night was for certain – there was no waiting around. Launching into ‘Last Night’ it was as if the band were performing their encore, thanks to the enthusiastic crowd belting out the lyrics and dancing into the night.

With frontman Kiaran Crook’s vocals clearly reminiscent of Alex Turner, the band has captured the more traditional indie sound and serves it straight from the bottle.

Packing top tracks back-to-back at the top of the set meant the night was off to strong start, but the band could’ve scattered these a little more for engagement as there were a few dips early on in the set.

Throughout the night, the band maintained high energy with top tracks including ‘Was It Really Worth It?’ and ‘Live For The Moment’, but the night would have benefitted from more interaction with the crowd, as at times the band seemed rather shy despite the crowd hanging onto every lyric.

It was evident that The Sherlocks have the talent and ambition to take them far. The youngsters have an ever-growing fan base ready to sell out their shows and a strong line of single releases behind them, once they fine tune their live set, their name will undoubtedly become a regular feature in the UK’s music circuit and on festival line-ups.
