Live Review | Twin Pines | Electric Circus

Glasgow indie pop trio Twin Pines made their way to the capital city to headline Edinburgh’s Electric Circus.

Forming last year, the trio have already seen their tracks picked up by the likes of Virgin Radio and secured a slot at In The Mix festival alongside The 1975, Panic! At The Disco and James Bay.

The band may still be relatively ‘unknown’ in the Scottish scene, unsurprisingly as the Edinburgh show was only their third Scottish gig of the year, but they’re already attracting attention and building a strong online fanbase.

A very quiet Electric Circus played host to the trio who showcased new tracks set for their debut album release, with the band making the move to London after signing with a deal with a record label in New York in late 2015.

Within the set there were a few tracks with very high potential, including their debut single ‘Young Heart’, but due to the lack of atmosphere it was hard to engage with the tracks fully.

If the guys had a large audience to interact with, it would be sure to encourage a connection between the band and crowd – something which was lacking on the night due to the small turnout.

Twin Pines certainly have the drive and talent to climb their way up the indie pop scene, but they may be best sticking to support slots rather than headliners until they have found their feet and can attract a large crowd to fuel the indie pop show.
