McFly talk about their new sound to Clyde 1

After their performance at In:Demand Live, McFly briefly caught up with Clyde 1 to chat about their new direction in music.

After performing new single Party Girl live for the first time, lead guitarist and singer Danny Jones explained it was great to be back and that the performance went much quicker than he thought it would.

When asked about their ‘new sound’, Drummer Harry Judd explained that for the new album they decided to re-think their sound by ‘scrapping everything we’ve done to challenge ourselves in a new direction’. He also went on to explain how they are ‘so excited to be back now’.

Lead guitarist and singer Tom Fletcher added that the band will ‘always have to move on and up’ hence changing their sound and that since the early days, the band have all ‘grown up a bit’ so this shall be reflected in their new music.

The new sound has been described as the band taking a risk, but it is one which McFly are willing to take.

The presenter went on to mention the bands new ‘buffed up’ look, not long after the band revealed all in Attitude Magazine. Harry Judd explained that as the band have been away for a while now, they had time to work on their new look but Danny chipped in saying it’s him and bassist Dougie who aren’t so ‘trim’ compared to the other two.

Party Girl will be released on September 4th and the band are set to announce their new tour soon, it is also the bands 7 year anniversary today.

Congratulations and welcome back McFly!
