Pilgrim Angry announce new album release

Pilgrim AngryPilgrim Angry are a band not afraid to be different, as evidenced from the very start of their new album ‘Out of the Blue’.

Opener ‘Tell Me The Truth’ is dramatic and stark, an approach that lingers until the very end of the LP with track ‘Pilgrim Angry’. This is a classy debut, blending classical and electronica influences into a rock framework that creates a genuinely dark, theatrical atmosphere.

It is impactful from first listen, full of complexity and depth, bearing a strong resemblance to the genre bending of Muse’s early output. Even slightly less dramatic sections – tracks such as ‘Head’ – serve only as respite from the otherwise quite intense listen, and multiple plays become all the more rewarding as you are able to take in more of the layers on offer.

This is not music that could be labelled ‘catchy’ and those raised on a staple diet of middle of the road, radio friendly tunes will probably find it challenging, but the level of musicianship on show is genuinely impressive and music lovers will find plenty to sink their teeth into.

Highlights include ‘Call My Name’, a strings filled, dark, slow build gem which thankfully bears no resemblance to the Cheryl Cole song of the same name, and ‘No More Questions’, which is more piano based and features an instrumental section that would be at home in a classic movie soundtrack.
