Showcase for emerging artists at Paul McCartney’s LIPA

2ube extraPaul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts holds an annual music festival – 2Ube Extra.

The festival offers an opportunity to discover new artists from Liverpool’s current music scene.

The 2Ube’s weekly showcase takes place every Friday from 5pm-7pm, featuring a range of bands and artists from across the north-west.

On February 6th and March 20th, the show will be streamed live via a designated YouTube channel, in a run up to the main 2Ube Extra Festival event which will take place from April 15th to April 23rd, and features four bands each night, plus interviews and performances.

Here are some of the acts to look forward to seeing at both the weekly LIPA café events and at 2Ube Extra Festival itself:

Silje, signed to Japanese label Philter Inc (Katy Perry, Lily Allen), this Norwegian artist combines her Scandinavian/European sound with American culture influenced vocals. Check her out on Soundcloud.

MaVe (alias Marita Vestad) produces dark, catchy electronic music with her producer Are Naesset. Listen to some of her work on Soundcloud.

Tiger Factory are next up, a hip hop/rock band who combine smooth melodies, bouncy melodies and high energy live performances. You can listen to these guys here.

You can keep up to date with what’s happening at 2Ube via their Twitter account.
