Review | Wolf Alice – Don’t Delete The Kisses

Wolf Alice - Love Music; Love Life

The white noise and feedback eerily kickstarts Wolf Alice’s new track ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’, which sounds similar to ‘Real Hero’ by College.

Sounding like a song picked from the movie soundtrack for ‘Drive’, anthem singing portrays frontwoman’s Ellie Rowsell’s vocal ability, compared to the shouting of ‘Yuk Foo‘.

The track enters her unique whisper style singing, which sends shivers down your spine as if she’s actually whispering in your ear, while the chorus is catchy and uplifting.

The persistent and fuzzy bass line compliments the track well as the synth towards the end helps build to a final chorus which adds a certain awe to the song. It’s one of those singles you’ll want to listen to while in the car staring out at the stars passing by.

Musically, there’s not too much going on. The drums are adequate, which keeps the track moving and the fuzzy bass is effective. The synth parts make it an 80’s style pop song in contradiction to their last punk rock release.

The vocals and lyrics, however, make this track one to remember. They’re exciting and the whispers are dangerous and the lyrics are honest, portraying a current underground punk scene love story and the pessimist feelings of Ellie.

Wolf Alice are definitely one of my favourite bands around at the moment and I can’t wait to hear what they’ll do next!
