Single Review | Wolf Alice – Yuk Foo

Wolf Alice - Love Music; Love Life

‘Yuk Foo’ is the latest offering from Wolf Alice after their interesting and original punk debut album.

From the get-go, ‘Yuk Foo’ has elements of the original CBGB in New York during the 80s, where the New York Dolls and Blondie played.

The whispers hit your ears with a delicate persistence before singer Ellie Rowsell rips your face off with her shouting, screaming and singing, a brilliant build-up to end a great new punk song.

The track makes you feel alive the way punk should. It’s almost over in a flash – but that’s ok, that’s all you’ll need.

The feedback from the amps, Rowsell’s brilliantly inconsistent vocals, creeping and punchy drums all contribute to this big ‘f*ck you’ to mainstream polished wannabe rock ‘n’ rollers.

Thank you, Wolf Alice, for this exciting, raw and honest piece of rock ‘n’ roll punk. If the upcoming album is anything like this, I’ll be happy.
