Nicola Roberts; Lucky Day

By Hannah Murphy

At just 25 years old Nicola Roberts has the world at her feet. Having already been a part of one of the UK’s biggest girl bands to date, producing a string of number one hits; she created her Dainty Doll make up range and is fast becoming a style icon! Having battled with her self-esteem for many years, Nicola now radiates confidence which definitely shines through in her music.

September 18th will see the release of Nicola’s second single “Lucky Day”. The electro-pop track has already been described as refreshing; which fits the bill perfectly. With an infectious beat, and a killer chorus, it’s definitely a future hit.

Roberts has recently described the main inspiration for the track as being the 1940’s; “When I wrote Lucky Day I had short hair and was really into 40s fashion. All of the “woah woah woah woah” and the “ah ha” really is a reflection of that”. On the first listen the sound can be somewhat over powering, but overall it really is infectious.

Nicola is certainly quirky and passionate about her career which makes her even more lovable. The video for the track see’s the petite singer lighting up the streets of New York (literally), wearing nothing more than a floral print top, and leopard print knickers. Complete with bold colours, some light dancing and of course a beautiful singer, it’s nothing short of what a pop video should be.

Unlike her debut single “Beat of My Drum”, which only reached 27 in the charts, this will most definitely reach the top ten. No doubt you will be singing along in your car pretty soon, as radio stations will be playing it left right and centre!

“Lucky Day” is released in the UK on September 18th, and the album “Cinderella’s Eyes” is due to be released on the 26th.
