Top six live music gigs in Edinburgh | June 2016

From rock to indie pop, why not get in the mood for festival season with a gig or two.

With album launches, pre-festival shows and new material previews, here are our top six picks across the capital…

Big Deal
Wednesday 8th June | Sneaky Pete’s | £8
Support: Fazerdaze

Following the release of their third album ‘Say Yes’, Big Deal will arrive in Edinburgh to celebrate at Sneaky Pete’s. With airplay from BBC Radio 1 to Made In Chelsea, the band is certainly making a splash this summer before they head to Waves Vienna festival in September.

Gallery Circus
Thursday 9th June | Sneaky Pete’s | £5

Twin-brother duo Gallery Circus plan to spend the summer touring gearing up to the release of their new EP ‘Chi-Town Dogs’ later this year. With their energetic sets, the headline slot follows the band’s early summer appearances at The Great Escape Festival and Liverpool’s Sound City.

Copper Lungs
Friday 10th June | La Belle Angele | £5
Support: Exit The Theatre | Redolent

Dundee alt-rockers Copper Lungs released their most recent EP ‘Reverie’ back in October and have since supported the likes of Fatherson and Tuff Love. Heading back to Edinburgh for the headliner, the band has recently been in the studio with Romesh Dodangoda promising an exciting year ahead.

Mt. Doubt
Friday 17th June | The Mash House
Support: A Sudden Burst of Colour | Hamish James Hawk

Mt. Doubt will launch their second album ‘In Awe Of Nothing’ at The Mash House. Recently confirmed for T in The Park’s T Break Stage, this summer is shaping up rather nicely for the alt-rockers who were also recently named in the Sunday Herald’s ‘Guide to Scotland’s Best Up-and-Coming Bands’.

Twin Pines
Sunday 26th June | Electric Circus | £8
Support: Rebel Westerns | Cracked Hands

Glasgow indie pop three-piece Twin Pines ended 2015 by signing a record deal in New York and supporting The View at a sold out show at Glasgow’s O2 Academy. Preparing to release their debut material this year, the band has already been confirmed for a gig in the Philippines alongside The 1975, James Bay and Panic! At The Disco.

In Dynamics
Thursday 30th June | The Mash House | £6
Support: Huw Eddy & The Carnival | Good Friend | Imbium

Sussex trio In Dynamics will rock Edinburgh’s Mash House ahead the release of their debut album ‘Everything I See’. Due out on July 18th, the band has worked on the release since 2014 with long-time producer and collaborator Chris Coulter (Arcane Roots, Emp!re). Fans heading to the show will no doubt be in for a treat with the chance to hear some of these brand new tracks live for the first time.
