Top six live music gigs in Edinburgh | May 2016

Edinburgh’s live music scene has plenty to offer up in May.

From folk duo Seafret to rising rockers Fort Hope, add some music into May with our top six picks across the capital…

Book Group
Friday 6th May | Banshee Labyrinth | £7
Support: Adam Stafford, Jargo | Live From The Quarter (DJs)

Book Group will celebrate the launch of their debut album release ‘The Great Indoors’ at Banshee Labyrinth. Better yet, fans can grab a copy of the new album a week before its official release at the show.

Fort Hope
Tuesday 10th May – Electric Circus – £6
Support: Havana | A Modern Masquerade

Following the release of their new EP ‘Manne Of Lawe‘, Hertfordshire rock trio Fort Hope are currently touring the UK. With last year’s Kerrang! award nomination, festival performances and record deal with Virgin EMI, you’ll want to head down to catch these guys before they hit much bigger venues.

We Came From Wolves
Saturday 21st May – Electric Circus – £5
Support: Bronston | Victoria Sponge

Glasgow’s We Came From Wolves will return to rock Edinburgh following their headline slot at The Big Discovery Festival. Tipped for big things this summer, the band has recently been announced on the line-up for XpoNorth and Shetfest.

The Mirror Trap
Saturday 28th May – The Mash House – £7

With their new album ‘Simulations’ due for release in May, Dundee’s The Mirror Trap will head to The Mash House for a headline show. For the release, the band flew over to Thailand to record at Karma Studios, famed for hosting bands including The Libertines, Young Guns and Enter Shikari.

Lisbon
Sunday 29th May – Sneaky Pete’s – £6
Support: Indigo Velvet | Rebel Westerns

Following their earlier Edinburgh jaunt in January, tropical indie pop four-piece Lisbon will return for a Scottish headline show at Sneaky Pete’s. The date comes following the band’s new single release ‘Shark’.

Seafret
Tuesday 31st May – Electric Cirus – £9
Support: Tom Speight

Releasing their debut album ‘Tell Me It’s Real’ earlier this year, Bridlington duo Seafret will head out on tour in support of the release. With more than 20 million plays on Spotify and track ‘Wildfire’ featured in film ‘The Longest Ride’, the intimate gig promises something rather special to ease your way into summer.

If you think there’s a gig worth shouting about in Edinburgh, get in touch and let us know!
