Delphina Kings have released their new single ‘Lovestruck’.
Receiving support from Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing, the single sees the northern trio take a new direction with their sound.
Speaking of the single, the band explained: “‘Lovestruck’ was originally going to be a much more poppy track, right up to the point where we had laid down all the bass and drums in the studio. We had been talking to Sugar House (the guys that produced the track) about how we wanted to take the sound in a slightly more guitar-heavy direction, so when Chris came to put down guitars we started to experiment.
“What we came up with – those spiky, chromatic guitars – scared us so much that we actually tried to back out of it a couple of times and go back to the pop thing. It was a stressful session, and at a few points, we were worried we were going to walk away without a useable track, but it opened a door to this whole new sound for us, the fuzzed-up, chromatic, guitar-driven 90’s influenced sound that you hear on the record.
“It feels like a turning point for us. We took a risk, turned the Delphina Kings sound on its head, and we’re really proud of what came out of it.”
With its catchy chorus ‘Lovestruck’ quickly grabbed our attention with its gritty guitar-driven vibe.
