Stagecoach; Crash My Ride

Stagecoach have just been announced to play the BBC Introducing Stage at this years Reading and Leeds festivals and with the strength of their energy packed EP ‘Crash My Ride’, this comes as no surprise.

Hieroglyphics has an extremely catchy introduction and from the first moment it sounds like an energy-packed song. You can also easily envisage the energy that will be put into playing the track live as soon as it begins. This song, in particular, allows all members of the band to showcase their talent easily and despite the song containing very little lyrically, this makes the song more memorable, catchy and again enforces the style that will easily transcend to a live performance.

Good Great Better Best contains strong vocals and a powerful introduction. The way the band cleverly use instruments to pick up the tempo building up to chorus is contagious and works extremely well. The mixture of vocal stylings is another high point of the track and as this is extremely different to the ‘typical’ vocal style we have became so used to and is a welcomed change.

Axe Behind is another song that showcases the bands musical talents with ease. The band prove that they really know how to make use of introductions. The vocal stylings suit the style of music perfectly and within the song points for crowd interaction can be noted with ease. The song also contains cleverly written lyrics combined with the tempo making the mood less gloomy than it could be with such lyrics.

Headbangers Ball is a slower paced song on the EP, a strong point of the band is that after listening to their EP alone, you can imagine them playing a live set of the tracks with ease. This song is not as strong as the others, but still should be considered a listen. The lyrics are easy to catch onto with their cleverly written rhymes.

Overall, the style of the band is extremely hard to compare to any other, they manage to keep their unique style and it is one that could easily appeal to many different people over a variety of music categories. The band are extremely underated and after their appearance at this years Leeds and Reading festivals, it would not be a surprise if they reach popularity. The bands lyrics are based on normal everyday topics unlike the usual categories of love, hate, friendships etc these are down-to-earth and more appealing than the rest, again differentiating themselves. This EP is definitely worth a listen and if you manage to get the chance to see the band live it is one that cannot be turned down, as it seems big things will happen for the band in the future, so catch them while you can!
