After Dougie Poynter from McFly was spotted regularly sporting T-shirts branded with ‘Zukie’ and a couple of months later fans were given flyers outside McFly concerts about this mysterious brand, people were suddenly eager to know more about what exactly ‘Zukie’ was.

As the website surfaced and the link spread online, people rushed to buy the t-shirts from the skating brand – yet the story behind the brand still remained a mystery….

Well, we were lucky enough to solve this mystery by tracking down the people behind ‘Zukie’ and learning more.

Firstly the question most people are eager to know, who are the people behind the brand?

Bomber owner of Switch Skates , Jason Perry from A and now producer, and Dougie Poynter from Mcfly.

What inspired you to start a clothing range?

The Beastie Boys ‘Check Your Head’ album and the skate look around that time. Chinos are back and we have the T’s to go with them !!!

Why did you decide on the name ‘Zukie’?

Better than Super Dry?, plus Godzilla has a small financial interest .

Where do you originate your design ideas from?

We have 5 different designers, each has their own style. So we pick maybe one or two designs per artist and put them in the collection.

Which item is currently your best seller?

Zukie Man T

Which item of the range is your personal favourite?

It has to be the Zukie Love Japan T. All the money is going to the Japan Red Cross! Oh and the skateboards!

Do you plan to endorse any bands with the range, or are there any bands who are already involved?

Not at the moment, but I like some of the Skate brands that do it, so who knows! Vans? Nike SB? Supra? I like what those guys have done in the past.

Do you have any plans to branch out the types of apparel available?

Kids apparel is going to be in the next season, and more girls Ts. Chinos and more Chinos!

Will Zukie clothing be available in-store in the future?

We have a concession in Switch SkateStore in Leigh-On Sea and it’s amazing, but we will be opening our store soon .

What can we expect in the future from Zukie?

A Skate team and Film! Skateboard wheels, more killer T’s and scratch ‘n’ sniff stickers with all the Apparel!!!
