Dead Ceremony | 5 tracks that influenced ‘All This Noise’

Dead Ceremony have shared the influence behind their new track ‘All This Noise’.

Out now, the single comes ahead of the band’s forthcoming London show at The Old Blue Last on the 31st July with KYOTI and KYLYPSO.

Speaking of the single, the band said: “This song is about the revelation of falling out of love and accepting that you have to end what you once thought was so certain. Finding the strength and clarity to ignore the fears, expectations, assumptions and advice that surround you, and focus instead on the truth that love is all that really matters and that everything else is just noise.”

To celebrate the release, Dead Ceremony have shared five singles that shaped ‘All This Noise’.

Majical Cloudz – Downtown
A band that both Christopher and I both love who sadly are no longer together, we could never understand why they weren’t the biggest band in the world. It has this reversed repeating keys riff that drives through the whole track, it could get boring but it really doesn’t as the harmony cleverly keeps subtlety changing underneath, the way elements drop in and out is really masterful.

Bon Iver – 8 (circle)
The way Justin voices the chords on his OP1 in this song is amazing. We’re always striving to find interesting ways to do really simple chord progression. We started ‘All This Noise’ with Chris improvising some vocoder chords with lots of notes that suspended over each other, so the obvious harmony is left to the bass. I always like that in the track, it means each element can sound really powerful as it has its own space in the EQ spectrum.

Kevin Garrett – Little bit of You
We actually really love shiny American Pop/R&B. The production on this track is so great, everything is so clear and defined and the vocal sounds amazing even when there are only like two or three other things going on. Brilliant.

The Field – Silent
I always loved how imperfect the sampling is in this song, everything sounds a bit grainy and pretty lo-fi, really charming actually. We’re also big fans of a kinda 90’s sounding snare too which this track has when the proper drums kick in halfway through.

S.U.R.V.I.V.E – Dirge
We’re always referencing this track with our demos to see if we’ve gone epic enough with our sound design….often we haven’t. The size of the synths in this track are frankly frightening.
