Eden Festival have announced a battle of the bands competition which will see the winner perform live on the festival’s main stage.

The competition is aimed at teenagers aged 18 and under in Dumfries and Galloway in order to promote local talent and give up and coming musicians a taste of playing to a festival crowd on their home turf.

Eden Festival 2018 runs between the 7-10th of June and the winning band will also receive free festival weekend passes as well as a £200 donation for their school music department and a sponsored sports strip for their chosen school team.

Runners-up also receive free weekend passes for the whole band plus two adult weekend tickets. Auditions are due to take place in April while the main competition is held in May.

Last year’s winning band Back From Nowhere from Dalbeattie High School opened the festival last year. This year’s victors will be joining Eden for their 10th birthday and sharing the Devorgilla stage with acts such as Groove Armada and Submotion Orchestra.

Eden Festival Director Meredith Langley explains: “We are interested in all music genres and styles, it can be your own material or you could be a covers band. You just need to be 18 years old or under to apply. Good Luck!”

Registered bands will be invited to an audition and six acts will be invited to perform for a grand final in May in front of a live audience and a panel of esteemed judges, all to be revealed shortly. The winners will be decided on the night.
