Fraser McLean has released his new single ‘Gone’.
The singer-songwriter from Bathgate swapped his guitar-based sound for a guitar, keys and sample blend, unveiling his latest release as a duet with Leia Campbell.
The new track follows Fraser’s summer schedule including slots at Doune the Rabbit Hole, Live at Troon and Belladrum.
To celebrate his single release, Fraser shared with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Gone’.
The 1975 – Somebody Else | Listen
I love how The 1975 can create this song which I see as quite a chilled ballad track, yet they are very much a pop act with some great upbeat songs. It shows how diverse they can be and I like to do the same as this latest track of mine is quite chilled compared to my others.
Lewis Capaldi – Rush | Listen
I love how Lewis uses piano as the main instrument in his songs and I think his voice and Jessie Reyez really compliment each other. I was also inspired by the structure of the song with the male vocal doing the first versus and then the female doing the second versus before they both come in together.
Finneas – I Lost A Friend | Listen
This song starts off with piano and slowly builds up which I love. I listen to Finneas a lot, he is a great producer for his sister Billie Eilish and is also a great writer and artist himself.
Jack Garratt – Far Cry | Listen
This song hasn’t influenced my track ‘Gone’, but I have to include it as I love his music, especially his live performance. The sound on a lot of my other tracks are influenced by Jack Garratt and his techniques have influenced me as I focus more on being a solo artist surrounding myself with technology.
Tom Walker ft. Zara Larsson – Now You’re Gone | Listen
This song influenced me to write a duet. It’s faster and more upbeat than my track ‘Gone’ but their voices really compliment each other and hopefully people say the same about Leia and I in our track.
