Italian enigma Giulia used 2018 to hone her Songwriting talent and explore herself as an artist and performer.
‘Trippin’ Out’ is the first track to be released from her new album, conveying a true melting pot of influences and genres.
To celebrate the release of her single and the upcoming release of the album in 2019, Guilia has shared five singles that helped shape ‘Trippin’ Out’.
Madonna – Hung Up
This song is one of my not-so-guilty guilty pleasures… I have always admired Madonna as an artist, and I remember listening to her a lot when I was growing up and dreaming of becoming a performer. I always try to bring her power and strength to my tracks, and this is particularly true of ‘Trippin’ Out’.
Two Feet – Love Is A Bitch
‘Love Is A Bitch’ is such a cool track. Its laidback pulse is exactly the kind of cool vibe that I wanted for ‘Trippin’ Out’. I also love that there is so much emphasis on the vocals which is definitely something I wanted to replicate.
Eminem – My Name Is
This song is just such a classic, and Eminem is general has had a huge impact on me. His rhythms have always seemed to interesting to me, and I think this inspired the tempo and rhythmic vibe of ‘Trippin’ Out’
Dua Lipa – Kiss and Make Up
Dua Lipa sings with such an incredible attitude on this track, and you totally believe every word that she is saying which I think is a really powerful thing. When I first heard this track I knew that I wanted ‘Trippin’ Out’ to have the same punchy performance style.
Drake – Nonstop
I have been absolutely obsessed with Drake’s most recent album, and I think ‘Nonstop’ is my favourite track. The way Drake shapes the tracks around the lyrics really interests me, and was something I was very conscious of when I wrote ‘Trippin’ Out’
