Blitz Kids

You may not have heard of Blitz Kids, but it seems it won’t be too long until you have.

The band have played at some of the major festivals this year, including T In The Park.

They have taken over social networking sites with their expanding fan base and gained recognition from magazines such as Kerrang! and Rock Sound.

It seems with the amount of energy the guys project and their loyal growing fan base, that this is just the beginning!

We managed to catch up with the band to find out more.

How did the band come up with the name ‘Blitz Kids’?
The ‘Blitz’ part symbolised how chaotic, dark, and explosive our music can be and the ‘Kids’ part represents our pop sentiments. It’s a badass name too.

What do you feel has been your greatest achievement as a band to date?
I’d have to say playing at some of the major festivals this year and people actually filling out the tents to see us, even when massive bands like Good Charlotte were on the main stage.

What song would you say best showcases the band?
It’s probably one we haven’t released it yet, it’s a track called “When To Say When” (which we have written for our debut album). Lyrically, Joe has never poured so much emotion into a song and the music goes from sublime to absolute mayhem, and finally lands on monstrously epic.

Where do you find most of your inspiration arises from?
At this juncture, I could name a load of bands that every interviewee always seems to name drop; like ‘Glassjaw’ and ‘Refused’, but our inspiration comes from a place much quieter than that. It’s mostly from the lives we lead in the small town we are from and the problems we face day in day out, whether they are personal, or financial. It all gets unleashed when we get into our rehearsal space. Without every little obstacle in our way, we’d be a totally different band.

What is your favourite music video of your own?
“Maybe We’ll Die, Maybe We Won’t”. It was so fun to shoot and all the kids were so co-operative! It’s hard to control 250 people at once, whilst also concentrating on looking like heroes!

Who would be your ideal band to go on tour with, if there were no limits?
Jay-Z.

What can we expect in the future from Blitz Kids?
Absolutely everything. There is no ceiling to what we’re doing. You’ll be seeing a lot more of us next year… whether you like it or not.

We love the bands positive attitude and can’t wait to hear more from them.

You can catch Blitz Kids live on tour this November at various locations around the UK!
