Kinder | 5 tracks that influenced ‘Different’

Kinder has released his debut album ‘Different’.

The album from songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Leo Wyatt goes through his recent life journey from finding himself after self-destructive behaviours took hold following the end of platonic and romantic relationships.

Speaking of this, Leo said: “I believe that this process, while long and drawn out, has helped me assess who I am as a human being on this planet and who I want to strive to be as I grow older. I want to be kinder, non-judgemental, forgiving and loving”.

To celebrate his album release, Leo shared with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Different’.

Angel Olsen – Tonight | Listen via Spotify
This album in general was the main reason I decided to include orchestral elements into my music. The combination just works perfectly without sounding too much like film music. I ended up working with and becoming friends with Jherek who arranged the strings for this album, so it’s definitely a special one for me.

Moses Sumney – Polly | Listen via Spotify
Probably one of my favourite songs ever and lyrically a song I aspired to when writing the last few tracks of the album.

Blake Mills – Summer All Over | Listen via Spotify
This was a song we kept returning to as a mix reference for my piano.. it sounds like the microphones are inside the heart of the piano. So beautiful.

serpentwithfeet – bless ur heart | Listen via Spotify
This song is so real and raw and dramatic. I love how he opens his soul up… I dream of singing like that.

Radiohead – Daydreaming | Listen via Spotify
I could list a hundred Radiohead songs but maybe this one was the one that inspired the overall sonic aesthetic of my recent music.
