Moby – Natural Blues | Listen via Spotify
Break beats and big synths and strings. I heard this record a lot when I was a kid so it always felt like ‘grown up music’ to me. Which is what I wanted this EP to feel like. Still me, still a bit of idiot – but coming back bit older and bolder.
Lana Del Rey – Radio | Listen via Spotify
This song has always got me right in the feels. It’s sad as fuck but also makes me strut down the road with a pep in my step. Main character music – that’s the goal.
Mark Ronson – Somebody To Love Me | Listen via Spotify
The drums on this are so sick – as are they on anything he produces. Upbeat music is quite scary to me but this EP I was ready to have my little fun moment…now I’ve earned it.
Nick Hodgson – Suitable | Listen via Spotify
A love song that isn’t shite or annoying. Rarer than hens teeth. Me and my mates have been obsessed with this track for years. A love song that isn’t smug is hard to do, but he proves it can be done.
Alabama Shakes – Hold on | Listen via Spotify
Brittany Howard is my QUEEN. I love her and everything she does. This song doesn’t sound anything like the EP but I had to mention it as it was an important song for me during the time I was writing the project. It takes me back to walking through Ally Pally on the way to the studio in Finsbury Park – pretty lost and cold. But by the end of this song feeling like I was gonna be alright.
