Lishi | 5 tracks that influenced ‘Token’

Lishi has returned with her new single ‘Token’.

Produced by Xavier Dunn, the single explores love and loss in her enchanting style.

‘Token’ was written towards the end of 2016 and marks Lishi’s first new track in six months and was inspired by the memory of her father as a heartfelt tribute to the love they shared.

To celebrate the video release, Lishi shared with us five singles that shaped ‘Token’.

Chris Isaak – Wicked Games
This is so sensuous and velvety, a feeling I wanted for my song also.

Lana Del Rey – Video Games
I don’t think you can get a much dreamier track than this which is definitely what I was aiming for, I also love her use of visually inspired lyrics.

Lorde – Royals
I’ve always loved how she uses lyrics and how visual they are, I think that’s what I’m most influenced by with her music.

Air – Playground Love
Films and film music play a big role in inspiring my music, I’ve always loved how well this track complimented Sofia Coppola’s film ‘The Virgin Suicides’, she is so talented at pairing music with visuals.

Michael Jackson – Stranger in Moscow
I think this is my favourite track of his, there is a sadness and beauty about it which I wanted to also create.
