New EP Review | Escape To New York | A Long Time Between Monsters

escape to new yorkAfter the success of their debut single,’Growing Pains’, Escape To New York have released their new EP, ‘A Long Time Between Monsters’.

Its five tracks captivate you from start to finish and leave you wanting more.

It’s A Battle Ground opens the EP with a heart-racing beat that propels you into the track. As the track progresses, you are captivated by the soothing yet powerful vocals that are complimented brilliantly to portray no-man’s land during the gunfire of life.

We Got Some Miles To Go continues the soothing nature of the previous track as we settle into the EP. This track dials the urgency down a notch, but retains the heart-racing nature of the opening track.

Their debut single, Growing Pains, rightfully sits in the centre of the EP. Just like the video, the raw track is enchanting and beautiful in its pursuit of portraying the pains that come with growing up.

42 is a track you would hear in an indie film. It’s hypnotizing and leaves you in awe and wonder at what surrounds you. It’s a simple track with a lot to offer.

The Adventures of Luke Starkiller starts slow and alluring, but as the track continues the tempo from the previous tracks – literally – kicks back in, asking you to take the plunge into the track head-first. It’s epic in its delivery and has you swaying and raising your hands like there’s no tomorrow.

Overall, ‘A Long Time Between Monsters’ is the soundtrack for the limbo between one world of chaos into the next. It’s the in-between that leaves you thinking about the past before you step into the future. It’s a great EP to have playing when you’re contemplating life or are in the midst of the chaos of it all.
