NOEL has released his second EP ‘Mementos’.
The new release from the Swedish artist follows the success of his debut EP and sees a clear progression in his sound and songwriting.
Speaking of the EP, NOEL: “Creating this EP has been an incredibly rewarding experience. For me, music is a powerful outlet, a way to express emotions that can be hard to put into words. While the songs might have a darker tone, working on them has actually brought me a lot of joy. I’ve learned that embracing sadness is an essential part of finding happiness, and I wanted that to come through in my music. I’m really proud of this EP, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.”
To celebrate his EP release, NOEL shared with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Mementos’.
Lewis Capaldi – Someone You Loved
This song has probably had the biggest impact on my musical journey. Before hearing it, I wasn’t that serious about music or singing, but when I fell in love with this track, everything changed. I remember trying hard to imitate the sound and feel of it, and that process was the beginning of me fully falling in love with music.
Bruno Mars – Grenade
This is one of my earliest memories of a song that really moved me. I was young when I first heard it in the car, and I remember being blown away by Bruno Mars’ vocals. Even now, it’s a song I admire, and it’s a reminder of why I fell in love with music in the first place.
James Arthur – Can I Be Him
Similar to ‘Someone You Loved’, this song played a major role in sparking my passion for music. I was drawn to James Arthur’s tone and style, and it inspired me as I began finding my own sound. This track holds a special place in my journey.
Noah Kahan – Call Your Mom
I had to include a song from ‘Stick Season’ because that album has been a huge influence on my songwriting. ‘Call Your Mom’ has probably been my most played, and Noah Kahan’s writing style pushes me to improve my own work. I really look up to his ability to tell stories through music.
ABBA – Dancing Queen
This song is a classic that just makes you excited about music. It’s timeless and has a way of lifting you up, whether you’re happy or feeling low. For me, ‘Dancing Queen’ is one of those songs that reminds you of the joy of music and inspires you to create something just as impactful.
