Reyko | 5 tracks that influenced ‘Surrender’

REYKO have released their new track ‘Surrender’.

The new track from the singer/producer electro-pop duo is the latest taster from their forthcoming album, due for release in March.

Speaking of the track, REYKO said: “With ‘Surrender’ we had an ambition to write an ultimate, timeless, peace-making anthem. The song talks about putting your ego down and asking yourself: ‘is it really worth to keep fighting in order to make a point and to be in the right or should we all just chill for a second?’”

To celebrate the single release, REYKO shared with us 5 tracks that influenced ‘Surrender’.

Flume – Never be like You | Listen via Spotify
Flume’s production – slow rhythm, massive drums and biting synth in the choruses – definitely influenced the production of ‘Surrender’.

Whethan – Be Like You (feat Broods) | Listen via Spotify
Soft vocals, airy verses that lead into edgy choruses is what we’re all about. You can hear that in Whethan’s song!

CHVRCHES – The Mother We Share | Listen via Spotify
We have always liked CHVRCHES and the way they make their songs sound very anthem-like. That clearly rubbed off on us because ‘Surrender’ is our take on writing a peace-making anthem.

Jack Garratt – Worry | Listen via Spotify
Jack Garratt’s songwriting is amazing, especially the intimacy of it and the lyrics. It’s something we always have in the back of our head when we write songs.

The Weeknd – High for This | Listen via Spotify
We always include The Weeknd’s early material in our playlists. Great melodies with soft vocals on top of huge drums and distorted basses.
